Hi Tom,

As I have a job at hand with a lot of holes to be drilled and tapped I just tested the code to what works? I get to line 150 when I get a popup saying Unexpected motionbuffer starved.

What can be done to get things working?

Cheers
Bengt

Hello Bengt,
Not sure, but did you try to increase the "Windows Buffer ahead time" in the plugin for Mach3? Increasing this will also delay the reaction time when adjusting feedrate override.

Sorry guys,
I am really embarrassed. I was testing my code too close to X+ end switch that is why I got the error message. Code is running well, just uploading video to Youtube so I will post a link when ready.

Only thing that I can see is that the Z axis movement stops before the spindle and Z starts moving before spindle starts rotating. Lucky I have a floating tapping head with at least 5mm travel.

Video link soon

Cheers

Hi Bengt,

Mach3 is not really designed to do true rigid tapping.  To do real rigid tapping you need to use a special method involving an M code and C program described here:

Hi Tom,

http://youtu.be/ENppnF6aS9I

As long as I can get by with the floating tapping head I am a happy camper. Will do some more test after dinner, one hole to be threaded.

Cheers
Bengt

Hi Tom,

Now I have tested to tap M6 threads in aluminium 20mm deep.
All well so I am a happy camper.

http://youtu.be/7gG0TsThMHI

Here the floating head in action, here you can see when Z axis stops and spindle still rotating how the floating toolholder expands.
Now I can star to drill/countersink/tap a lot of holes to two types of toolingplates for my lathe. Will show pictures/video later on.

Cheers
Bengt
